Pony Highway Productions and HRTV Win National Television Media Eclipse - They won the Media Eclipse Award in the National Television - Features category for the documentary "On the Muscle: Portrait of a Thoroughbred Racing Stable," which explored the world of Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella and six horses in his stable. WLKY-TV Wins Media Eclipse Award or Best Local Television Program - The Louisville station won for its documentary "The Final Foal," about the filly Maggie Slew, the last offspring of 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
Dick Jerardi Wins Media Eclipse Award for News/Commentary Writing - He won for his series of articles on the events surrounding the injury and surgery of Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro in the hours following the 131st Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.
NBC Sports Wins 2006 Media Eclipse Award for National Television - They won the award for their extensive coverage of the 131st Preakness Stakes including Barbaro's injury and treatment.
Jockey Eibar Coa wins 300 in New York for 2006 - He became just the fourth jockey in history to hit that mark with a win on Friday at Aqueduct. He joins Steve Cauthen, Angel Cordero Jr., and Mike Smith as the only riders to win 300 in a year at the NYRA tracks.
Matt Goins Wins 2006 Media Eclipse Award for Photography - His photo of jockey Julien Leparoux going over the rail on the final day of the Keeneland spring meet was judged the best racing photo for 2006.
WBAL Radio Wins 2006 Media Eclipse Award for Audio/Multi-Media Internet - They picked up their 7th Eclipse Award for their coverage of the 131st Preakness Stakes.

Roy Chapman, owner of Smarty Jones, dies at age 79 - He had been ill with emphysema for years and finally succumbed in his Philadelphia home on Friday.
