2010 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Races Entries - Post positions were draw on Thursday for the Hong Kong Cup, Vase, Sprint, and Mile, worth a total of HK$20 million. Review: John Henry: The Steel Driving Racehorse - This great new DVD is a grand tribute to the great gelding John Henry, who started as the horse nobody wanted and went on to win over $6 million and be named Horse of the Year twice. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift for any racing fan.
Baffert wins #2000 - Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert got his 2000th win on December 2, 2010, at Hollywood Park with Free Pourin in the 3rd race. He has trained multiple Breeders' Cup and Kentucky Derby winners in his long career. Check out his career highlights and stats here.

Thursday Breeders' Cup Workouts - Today it was cold and sunny at Churchill Downs and the track was very crowded. There were a few timed works and Zenyatta came again after 9am. Check out photos of 28 horses who were on the track or schooled in the paddock today with comments.

Review: The Story of Your Life - A History of The Sporting Life Newspaper (1859-1998) by James Lambie. A history of British horse racing using many excerpts of The Sporting Life, a daily newspaper which was published from 1859-1998. The book also covers other sports such as boxing, rugby, and soccer.
Joshua Tree holds on in the Canadian International (G1) - He led a European sweep of the top three spots at Woodbine on Saturday, winning by a head over Mores Wells and Redwood. Get the results, chart, and photos here.
E.P. Taylor (G1) and Nearctic Stakes (G1) - Also on Canadian International day, Reggane won the 2010 E.P. Taylor Stakes (G1) by a length over Miss Keller and Shalanaya. Keeneland Fallstars Weekend results - Opening weekend had ten graded stakes races for several of the Breeders' Cup divisions, headed by the Shadwell Turf Mile won by Gio Ponti and the Juddemont Spinster won by Acoma. Get the results, charts, and photos for all 10 races here.

Rachel Alexandra retired - Majority owner Jess Jackson announced today that 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra has been retired and will be bred to Curlin next year. Check out photos from most of her races and lots of stats.
Apart wins the Super Derby (G2) - He stalked the pace then drew off to win by 1 1/2 lengths in the stretch over Distored Economy and favorite Hurricane Ike at Louisiana Downs on Saturday. Movie Review: Secretariat: The Impossible True Story - We went to an advance screening of this movie which will be released on October 8. While serious racing fans may have problems with some inaccuracies (like Keeneland pretending to be Belmont Park), it was a feel-good family movie that can be enjoyed by both the general public and racing fans.

Secretariat movie review - The new Secretariat movie starring Diane Lane and John Malkovich will be officially released on October 8 at theaters nationwide by Walt Disney Studios. Many places are also showing advance previews, and Lori, a racing fan from Cleveland, had a chance to attend one and sent in this review.
Woodward (G1) and Forego Stakes (G1) Results - Quality Road drew off to win the Woodward at Saratoga on Saturday by 4 3/4 lengths as the heavy favorite. Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame Inductions - Ten new members were inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame on August 29, 2010, including owner/breeder Mel Lawson and Belmont Stakes winner Victory Gallop. Find out about all ten inductees here.
Miami Deco a huge upset in the Breeders' Stakes - He set a new record win payoff in the final leg of Canada's Triple Crown at Woodbine, paying $133.10 to win. Jockey Russell Baze wins #11,000 - He became the first jockey to reach 11,000 career victories, aboard Separate Forest in the 4th race at Santa Rosa on Saturday August 14, 2010. The perennial leading jockey in Northern California, Baze is a member of the Racing Hall of Fame and has been riding for over 3 decades.
Vanderbilt and Honorable Miss Handicaps - Favorite Majesticperfection went wire to wire to win the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) by 2 3/4 lengths over Big Drama and Bribon. In the Honorable Miss Handicap (G2), Secret Gypsy won by 2 lengths over Hour Glass with favorite Warbling third. Get the results, charts, and photos here.

Whitney Handicap (G1) and Test Stakes (G1) results - Blame wore down heavy favorite Quality Road to win the Whitney Handicap by a head with Musket Man third. Review: Secretariat's Meadow - The Land, The Family, The Legend by Kate Chenery Tweedy and Leeanne Ladin. An excellent tribute not only to Secretariat but the Chenery family and Meadow Stable. This book is strongly recommended to racing fans especially history buffs.
Lookin At Lucky romps in the Haskell Invitational (G1) - The Preakness winner drew off in the stretch to win by 4 lengths over Trappe Shot at Monmouth Park on Sunday. First Dude was 3rd and Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver was 4th. Get the results, charts, and photos here.

Ruffian Invitational, Fourstardave Handicap, and Curlin Stakes - It was a day for front runners at Saratoga as Malibu Prayer led the whole way to win the Ruffian (G1) over favorite Unrivaled Belle. Two Canadian Horses of the Year gone - Two past Canadian Horses of the Year, With Approval (1989) and Wake at Noon (2002), passed away on June 28 and 29, adding a sad note to this year Queen's Plate.

Churchill Downs named host for 2011 Breeders' Cup - Churchill Downs, who will host the 2010 Breeders' Cup World Championships on November 5 and 6, has also been named as the host track for the 2011 Breeders' Cup World Championships to be held on November 4 and 5.

Personal Ensign 1984 - 2010 - The undefeated champion mare Personal Ensign passed away from natural causes at age 26 on April 8, 2010. She won all 13 of her starts including a thrilling Breeders' Cup Distaff against Winning Colors. As a broodmare she produced three Grade 1 stakes winners from 11 foals.
