Pool Two of the 2012 Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. The field was once again the favorite at 3-1 with Fountain of Youth winner Union Rags next at 4-1 and Gotham Stakes winner Hansen at 9-1 the third choice. The total amount wagered during Pool One was $411,368. up 9% from last year. $299,574 was bet to win while $111,794 went into the exacta pool.
In the only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2012, which ran concurrent with Derby pool 2 but closed 30 minutes later, the field was the 4-1 favorite over Princess Arabella at 6-1 and Grace Hall at 8-1. A total of $92,476 was wagered in the Oaks Future, $63,960 to win and $28,516 in the exacta pool.
The Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Pool 1 was held on February 10-12 and the third and final pool is set for March 30-April 1. The 138th running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
