Since he's been here, he's trained very well – just fantastic. I thought we would get a nice lead. We wanted him to make the running… but it was great. As long as he has space, he's good. He's been lightly raced, but he's improving all the time."

So, I accepted it and sat in behind. I did get going at the half-mile pole. He had his ears pricked in front and he was getting a good breather. He's a fit horse and he came in here high on confidence. James Doyle [rode him] at Leopardstown, which has a very stiff finish. He accelerated leaving the last furlong again. He's a fit horse coming in here, high on confidence. At the end of the day, he only got beat by Rebel's Romance at Newmarket, so that's serious form. It looks like he's improved a lot as a 5-year-old."

When I walked the track earlier, it obviously had racing on (the inside), and because with the rain yesterday, it was quite uneven, so I thought if I swing off three or four horses, he'll have fresh ground and it might help him."

There was a lot of speed in the race, too. [Assistant trainer David Adams] told me to just let him break and lay close to the speed and do your thing. That's what we did."

She definitely has a very good turn of foot. As soon as I asked her at the head of the lane, she kind of found a seam. She kicked very hard for me, it was very nice to see."

horse racinghorse racingLeft: Mrs D in the winner's circle. Winning trainer Steve Chircop said, "We were taking a shot obviously, but we had as much confidence in this horse as any we ever have. Her last work (3f in 34.20 on Sept. 26) was phenomenal; you couldn't have asked for a better work. She's had some small hiccups, things that we've got to learn to work with. And giving her the time with (owner Joe Demarinis) letting us do our job and giving us the patience, it all prevailed today. She hasn't run a bad race for us yet."

Right: Mrs D gets hosed off after the race. Winning jockey Jose Campos said, "The plan was, come just behind the speed, but the filly break a little bit slow, so I say OK, I'm going to stay here. I'm going to wait and make just one move. Everything to win nothing to lose. From the two and a half (furlong pole), I say, we are going to have a good chance."

horse racinghorse racingLeft: Second place finisher and beaten favorite Go for Launch returns after the race. The Kevin Attard trainee improved her record to 2 wins and 1 second in 3 starts, earning $176,716 for owner-breeder Blue Heaven Farm (Bonnie Baskin and Adam Corndorf).
