Flavien Prat celebrates aboard Sierra Leone (Classic).
Jockey Flavien Prat won the Bill Shoemaker Award, given to the most outstanding rider at the Championships, for the first time. The Shoemaker Award goes to the jockey who won the most races in the 14 World Championship races this weekend with the tiebreaker being a 10-3-1 point system for second- through fourth-place finishes.  Prat won the Classic aboard Sierra Leone and then in the next race, rode Moira to victory in the Filly and Mare Turf.

Ryan Moore also had 2 wins with Henri Matisse (Juvenile Turf) and Lake Victoria (Juvenile Fillies Turf), but Prat won the tiebreaker with third placings on Domestic Product (Dirt Mile) and Mullikin (Sprint).

Europeans entrants won five Championship races: Magnum Force (Juvenile Turf Sprint), Lake Victoria (Juvenile Fillies Turf), Henri Matisse (Juvenile Turf), Starlust (Turf Sprint) and Rebel’s Romance (Turf).

Jockey Rossa Ryan celebrates his first BC win aboard Starlust (Turf Sprint)
Rossa Ryan was the only first-time Cup winning rider this year, aboard Starlust (Turf Sprint). Six trainers notched their first Cup wins, headlined by Ken McPeek with Thorpedo Anna (Distaff). Joining him were Ger Lyons with Magnum Force (Juvenile Turf Sprint), Saffie Joseph Jr. with Soul of an Angel (Filly & Mare Sprint), Kevin Attard with Moira (Filly & Mare Turf), Dan Blacker with Straight No Chaser (Sprint) and Cherie DeVaux with More Than Looks (Mile).

Only one horse was a repeat winner, as Rebel's Romance also won the Turf at Keeneland in 2022. Trainer Aidan O'Brien was the only conditioner to pick up two victories, both on Future Stars Friday with Lake Victoria (Juvenile Fillies Turf) and Henri Matisse (Juvenile Turf). The two victories boosted O'Brien's World Championships total to 20, tying D. Wayne Lukas for the most training wins all time at the Breeders' Cup.

Five of the 14 Breeders' Cup races were won by the betting favorite. The winning favorites were Immersive (Juvenile Fillies), Lake Victoria (Juvenile Fillies Turf), Henri Matisse (Juvenile Turf), Thorpedo Anna (Distaff) and Rebel’s Romance (Turf).  The highest price winner of the weekend was Starlust (Turf Sprint) with a $69.20 payoff for a $2 win bet. At the other end, Thorpedo Anna (Distaff) was the shortest priced winner, paying just $2.80.
