The $2 million NetJets Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) features the best 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the main track. Spinaway (G1) and Alcibiades (G1) winner Immersive was sent off as the 2-1 favorite in the field of 9. In to challenge her included 7-2 second choice Scottish Lassie, winner of the Frizette (G1), and 4-1 third choice American Bikini off her Yamaboshi Sho win in Japan.

Immersive takes the lead in the stretch

Jockey Flavien Prat sent 9-1 Nooni to a clear lead first time by through fractions of 22.00, 44.99, and 1:10.03 while pressed by American Bikini and stalked by 8-1 Vodka With a Twist. Turning for home the pacesetters tired as Immersive, 5th early under Manny Franco, swept to the lead 4 wide through 1 mile in 1:37.61. Kept to task by Franco, Immersive drew off to win by 4 1/2 lengths over Vodka With a Twist in 1:44.36. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to 8-1 Quickick third.

Left: Immersive heads to the winner's circle. Winning jockey Manny Franco said, "I knew the pace was cooking in front, so I took my time and by the 3/8 pole, (Scottish Lassie) passed me and I hit the clear there by the 5/16, I follow her. I say, ‘Let's go, this is the time.' She was there for me and she responded pretty well. She's a grinder. She doesn't have a big turn of foot and she's a grinder, but at the same time, I feel like I'm going to get there."

Right: Immersive with her winner's blanket. Winning trainer Brad Cox said, "Obviously, they were rolling pretty quick up front and Manny did a great job putting her in a great position. She broke well. Showed her stamina and ability to handle two turns. I think the further the better. She's a very good filly and showed it today, again. That was a huge performance."

Left: Immersive in the post parade. Franco added, "It means a lot. These are the races we dream of and that’s what we’re here for. I think she’s the best 2-year-old filly right now, no doubt. I’m just blessed. I’m working hard and my agent is doing a great job – John Panagot … that’s what I’m here for."

Right: Immersive returns after the race. Michael Banahan representing owner Godolphin said, "I'm sure there will be other fillies that will put their hand up (for the Kentucky Oaks) and be big challengers as well. I think stamina will be her forte as well, and she grinds it out pretty good. To win from going 3/4 on the maiden win to what she did today, we couldn't be happier. Yeah, of course, we're going to be excited about next year, for sure."

Left: Second place finisher Vodka With a Twist returns after the race. Trainer Phil D'Amato said, "Irad (Ortiz Jr.) did a nice job saving ground. They were wickedly fast fractions. He was wise to stay further off them. In the end, she just fought every step of the way and she got beat by a really nice filly. She was bought for $2,500 and she doesn’t know it. I think she’s going to further develop and I think she’ll be an even better 3-year-old."

Right: Third place finisher Quickick heads out from the tunnel to the post parade. Trainer Tom Amoss said, "When she broke through the gate, I was really surprised at how far back she was. It was not that we don’t know she doesn’t have a lot of speed, but she really fell out of the gate and put herself in a tough position. That is not Dylan’s (jockey Davis) fault. She did that to herself and made the task really tough."

Left: The start of the Juvenile Fillies. Jockey Dylan Davis aboard Quickick said, "She’s not a very good gate horse and she didn’t break the best. I had to deal with the cards that I had. They were going real quick up front. She’s a big closer and she moves nice, so I moved her to the outside around the turn and she made up a lot of ground. It was a tough group of fillies. I thought she ran a great race."
