Left: Rebel's Romance heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Charlie Appleby said, "I don't need to tell William how to ride this horse. He knows him inside-out. Throughout the race, I was pleased with where he was in his pitch and pleased to see to see him make the move that he did. He just keeps going and we had the momentum our way. Most importantly, full credit to all the team, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and Team Godolphin. A horse like this, he's a superstar, he really is. You watch him run around there and you really feel it. You want him to win."

Right: Rebel's Romance heads back to the barn. Apppleby added, "You see horses like him running around there and you really feel it because you want him to win. I’m just delighted for him and to win back to back Del Mar’s so we know he likes it here. For the mileage he’s done and the competition that he’s been campaigning at, that level for the time he has it takes a lot of guts. There are back-to-back Del Mars (Breeders’ Cups), so we know he likes it here. For the mileage he’s done and to be campaigned at that level for so long, it takes a special horse."

Left: Rebel's Romance heads out for the post parade. Buick added, "I spoke with Charlie this morning. We sort of agreed that we were riding positively. I expected the 8 horse to lead. I sensed he was getting a soft lead, putting the brakes on. I said I'm in a position where I'm three-wide, in a bit of a no man's land. I opted to go forward.  He was a little bit competitive when I first moved him forward, but then he got in that lovely rhythm that he's so accustomed to where he travels powerfully but he's within himself. It was a very sort of from then on straightforward race for him really. Even when he got the competition late, he still managed to find a little bit more. "

Right: Rebel's Romance in 4th first time by Winning jockey William Buick said, "He's just a legend of a horse who is all class and heart. We had a good run around and he stuck his head down to the line."

Left: Second place finisher Rousham Park returns after the race. Trainer Hiroyasu Tanaka said, "I was very close. That was the plan to let him go on his pace at the early stages then make ground. He showed his turn of foot even if it was a slow pace." Jockey Christophe Lemaire added, "He ran well. It was very close."

Right: Third place finisher Shahryar in the post parade. Jockey Cristian Demuro said, "He ran very good. Del Mar was a little bit small track for him and he was hanging a little bit at the corners. He finished third again so still a good horse."

Seventh place finisher Jayarebe enters the turf course before the race. During the runout he suffered a heart attack and died. The Breeders' Cup's official statement reads: "During the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Del Mar, Jayarebe (FR) suffered what appears to have been a cardiac event on the gallop out. He was immediately attended to by a team of veterinary experts led by Dr. Brent Cassady, but unfortunately passed away. His jockey, Sean Levey, was uninjured. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Jayarebe’s connections and the many fans whose lives he touched."
