The 42nd Breeders' Cup World Championships held on Friday and Saturday, October 31 and 1, 2025, at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in north San Diego County, California, are now in the record books. Attendance on Championship Saturday was 35,173 and the two-day on-track attendance was 65,232. On-track handle for the 2 days was $18,079,169. Total all-sources, global common-pool handle for the two-day Breeders' Cup World Championships at Del Mar was $180,036,799, third highest ever. Total common-pool handle on Saturday's 12-race Breeders' Cup card was $118,028,444. All sources common-pool handle on Breeders' Cup's 10-race Future Stars Friday card was $62,008,354. This is the eighth consecutive year that Breeders' Cup grouped all its juvenile races together on Friday.
The Championships were held at Del Mar for the fourth time, after 2017, 2021, and 2024. The 43rd Breeders' Cup World Championships will be held Friday-Saturday, October 30-31, 2026 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, followed by the 44th on October 29-30, 2027 at Belmont Park on Long Island, New York.

The only other rider with multiple victories was last year’s Shoemaker Award winner Flavien Prat. Prat had two victories, both coming Saturday with Splendora in the Filly & Mare Sprint and Nysos in the Dirt Mile.
Europeans entrants won five Championship races: Gstaad (Juvenile Turf), Balantina (Juvenile Fillies Turf), Notable Speech (Mile), Ethical Diamond (Turf) and Gezora (Filly & Mare Turf).

Friday saw the first father-son combination to win Breeders' Cup Championship races in the same year. Donnacha O'Brien saddled Balantina to victory in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, then two races later his father Aidan notched his record 21st Cup win with Gstaad in the Juvenile Turf to tie with Bob Baffert for most Breeders' Cup wins by a trainer.
Five of the 14 Breeders' Cup races were won by the betting favorite. The winning favorites were Nysos ($3.40 in the Dirt Mile), Ted Noffey ($3.60 Juvenile), Gstaad ($4.40 Juvenile Turf), Notable Speech ($7.20 Mile) and Bentornato ($5.40 Sprint). The highest price winner of the weekend was Ethical Diamond (Turf) with a $57.40 payoff for a $2 win bet. At the other end, Nysos (Dirt Mile)) was the shortest priced winner at just $3.40.
