Winning jockey Oisin Murphy said, "Irad (Ortiz Jr.) broke inside me but he didn't have a great start and I was able to get up inside him and save ground on the first turn. Got in the back of the favorite (Ultimate Love) and when he switched out turning in I was able to go up the inside, but I had the horse though. She's a great athlete and that's why she was able to handle the track so well."

Cy Fair heads out for the post parade. Winning trainer George Weaver, celebrating his first Breeders' Cup win said, "We've come a couple of times, and they're really tough races to win. You've got to bring the right horse and you've got to have some luck. But it's an exciting thing for me, our team, my family and Cindy. That's why we do what we do. I told the jockey not to get into a speed duel, and he made a move with the filly that was unexpected. And when she came around the bend, turned for home and exploded like that, I was, like, wow. It wasn't really a fast pace. He took her off what wasn't a really strong of a pace, and just like when she exploded like that, I was, like, man, we got a real chance over here."

Kicking off the weekend's stakes action was the $200,000 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes with 8 two-year-olds going 1 mile on the turf. Jockey Hector Berrios sent 8-5 second choice Conducted to the lead first time by through fractions of 23.69, 48.77, and 1:13.15 while pressed by 6-1 Proton and stalked by 37-1 Migo. Into the stretch Conducted opened up a 1 1/2 length lead through 7f i 1:24.79 and held off Proton the rest of the way to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:36.53. It was another length back to late-running 6-5 favorite Plutarch third.

Winning trainer O.J. Jauregui said, "I let Hector (Berrios) do whatever he wants to do. If there were a lot of horses going for the lead, he was going to let the other ones go and if nobody goes, he goes. It looked like everybody was walking there and he went on with it. The horse is getting better. (Early on) He wasn't focused yet. We wanted to run him in a maiden, but he couldn't get in, so I ended up going in the (Del Mar Juvenile Turf) and it turned out to be a race he learned a lot from."

It was another 1/2 length back to 9-2 fourth choice Liberation third.

Winning trainer John Sadler said, "She came in a little bit, the other one came out a little bit. They touched but then she straightened right up and won easily so it looked like a good call to me. This is the best draw she's gotten. I know she was on the rail the last race down here (at Del Mar). She ran three good races here, two seconds and a win. Now we had a little time to freshen her and get ready for this one."
