Left: Kathynmarissa heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Chad Brown said, "Often times this filly, she only grabs the bit in the lane and Jose, I can’t say enough about how he’s learned this filly and knows how to get along with her. We had a plan. That last conversation walking out with me and him to the track was reaffirming where if you get a good ground saving position on that first turn, you can go wide as you want in that second turn because she’s a clear run horse, which we both know about her. I’m just so happy those two found each other because he’s been a big part of her success.”
Right: Trainer Chad Brown gets a hug from co-owner Michael Dubb. Brown added, "I have a bunch of experience not only in this race but at Keeneland. I've run in all three editions and I've had one of the horses to beat.
I've learned a lot about running at this track at this distance, and this filly really carried all the qualities. When Mike (Dubb) and Mike (Caruso) transferred me this horse about two years ago now, one of the things in the back of their mind was the Breeders' Cup if we could ever get there.
Mike Dubb, I've been training for him for, I don't know, about 17 years now, and I've never had a horse that he was more interested in, checked on, has a real attachment to the horse, in a good way, and really believes in. That was enough for me, so I took the task on."

Left: Kathynmarissa in the post parade. Winning jockey Jose Ortiz said, “She broke alert and that helped me a lot. That was the plan (to be wide in the stretch). I wanted to (tuck) in on the first turn and on the second turn, I wanted to go outside. That’s how she likes to run. I knew that could have been me (going up the rail), but she doesn’t like to do that. She’d rather be outside. Today, it wasn’t a (strong) turn of foot - it took her a little bit to get going. At the three-eighths pole I was struggling a little bit, finally she hit the clear and she gave me that run that she always puts up.”
Right: Kathynmarissa heads back to the barn after the race. Co-owner Mike Caruso said, "Mike (Dubb) has always been good to me for 20 years. He's the CEO. I'm a lower-level vice president. But I made the comment before I met Mike Dubb and he introduced me to Chad Brown, the closest I ever got to a Grade 1 horse was stepping in the manure outside of the stall. So these guys, they put me into what is heaven, and this is heaven. You can tell by my voice. It doesn't get any better than this. This is why you do all the push-ups. This is why you lift all the weights. This is why you do it all."

Second place finisher Gimme a Nother returns after the race. Jockey John Velazquez said,“Perfect trip. Thought I was home free. [The winner] just came back and beat me.” Trainer Graham Motion added, “That was tough. She looked like she almost got there too easily. I was afraid someone was going to be coming but she ran great.”
Right: Third place finisher Jancis in the post parade. Trainer Willie McCreary said, “She ran a blinder and Billy (Lee) thought she just wasn’t sharp enough to hold her position and got shuffled back a bit too far. He said he thought Blue Bolt would take him into the race, but she didn’t. Our filly flew home. We think, on these kinds of sharper tracks, she might even be able to go farther.”
