The $1 million Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) featured a field of 10 older horses (after 1 scratch) going 1 mile on the main track. Left: Further Ado heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Brad Cox said, “I had no clue (at the finish) if we had won. It was very important to try and make this horse a dual G1 winner at the age of 3. And listen I think there is a little bit of question mark with the distances with him. I think he wants more than a mile but I wasn’t convinced we wanted to tackle 1 1/4 miles against older horses just yet.”

Right: Further Ado heads back to the barn after the race. Eric Gustavson of owner Spendthrift Farm said, "He really got pinned down in there longer than he wanted to be, and thankfully Flavien was able to kick him out when we got to the stretch there and make a run of it. He wants more ground. He loves it here. Thank God for Keeneland. He loves it here. Yeah, we thought we had lost (the photo finish). Everybody had our heads down, and the camera is ahead of the finish line, so it looked like he may have lost the bob and everybody was excited with the other horse, and that had to be tough for them. I feel bad for them."

Further Ado heads returns after the race. Winning jockey Flavien Prat said, “I thought I was ahead of him, but he had a good bob, so I didn't know! I was traveling well all the way around. We turned for home, and he gave me a good run. Owen Almighty just was tough.”  Gustavson added, "But you can tell he wants more ground. He's a 1 1/8 guy. It's a tweener for the Breeders' Cup obviously, so you have to go one way or the other, and we're just so happy it worked out."

Left: Second place finisher Owen Almighty first time by. Owner Hunter Rankin said, “He tried his ass off. You can't ask for anything more than that. I thought first watching it that he got beat. But then when they showed the replay, I thought he might have got his head down. A really good horse that beat him, and he tried hard, so that was great. I really thought he would win today, you know, but he ran a winning race. He just got beat by a good horse."

Right: Third place finisher Full Serrano exits the tunnel for the post parade. Jockey Joel Rosario said, “He had a really good run. He tries all the time this horse, so he’s a champ.”
