Note: In 2017, Free Drop Billy broke his maiden in his first start at Churchill Downs in June. Next he shipped to Saratoga to finish 2nd in both the Sanford (G3) and the Hopeful (G1) before winning the Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland. He closed out the year running a disappointing 9th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Del Mar. He made his 2018 debut finishing 2nd in the Holy Bull Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park then shipped to Aqueduct to finish 3rd in the Gotham (G3). For his final prep he finished 4th beaten 4 lengths by Good Magic in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). In the Kentucky Derby (G1) he sat 8th 5 1/4 lengths off the pace but tired badly to finish 16th beaten 41 lengths at odds of 45-1. In the Belmont Stakes (G1) he sat 9th early then passed tired horses to get 7th beaten 9 1/2 lengths at odds of 32-1.
