2018 Kentucky Derby Future WagerPool Two of the 2018 Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. As expected the field wound up the favorite at 5-2. Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Good Magic was the second choice at 8-1 followed by third choice Bolt d'Oro, 3rd in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile after winning the Del Mar Futurity (G1), also listed at 8-1 but with slightly less wagered. The total amount wagered during Pool Two was $521,650, which included $158,262 in exacta wagers. This is a significant (58.1%) increase over the $303,043 bet in Pool 2 last year.
The Kentucky Derby Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Pool 1 was held November 23-26. Pool 3 is scheduled for March 9-11 and will also include the single Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool. The fourth and final pool is set for April 6-8. The 144th running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 6. Full rules and info for the wager is available here.

Update: Montauk has been suspended from the future wager. His connections met Friday morning and a decision was made to address a minor throat issue that would prevent Montauk from a chance to make the May 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (Grade 1).
