2020 Kentucky Oaks Entries

The fillies never get the press the boys do, but on Friday they get the spotlight in the Longines Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs, despite the race being rescheduled and run with no spectators. On Monday morning the post positions were drawn for the 146th Longines Kentucky Oaks and a field of just nine 3-year-old fillies made the entry box for this $1.25 million Grade 1 event over 1 1/8 miles on the main track.
As expected, Gamine is the even money morning line favorite, undefeated in 4 starts so far including the Acorn (G1) at Belmont and the Test (G1) at Saratoga. Regular rider John Velazquez retains the mount from post 5 for trainer Bob Baffert. In to challenger her include 8-5 second choice Swiss Skydiver, winner of the Alabama (G1) at Saratoga after finishing 2nd in the Blue Grass (G1), with Tyler Gaffalione aboard for trainer Ken McPeek from the rail, and 5-1 third choice Speech. winner of the Ashland (G1) after finishing second in the Santa Anita Oaks (G2). Javier Castellano will be in the irons from post 4 for trainer Mike McCarthy.
