Left: Banishing in the winner's enclosure. Winning jockey Silvestre De Sousa said, "My horse was coming back in trip and it suits him, he's a proper miler. There was a lot of pace in the race and I just held the horse where he wanted to be. He took the turn a bit wrong, with the wrong leg, but he responded well under pressure. I was happy to follow [Commissioner King] and also to have Mendelssohn Bay on my inside. I just took the safe option but the horse wasn't helping me, he was lugging to the outside when he came into the straight."
Right: Banishing heads out to the track before the race. Winning trainer David Jacobsen said, "I wasn't sure about the trip. I knew Commissioner King had a lot of speed and was going to the lead. I was hoping we'd stalk, just like it worked out. Looked like he was getting in a little trouble there, but the jockey rode him perfect. Took him out, got him in the clear and Banishing ran one of his top races."

The trophy presentation for the Godolphin Mile. Jacobsen, who was at his base in Kentucky, added, "I'm very excited, he ran a super race. I knew he was doing good, he looked great and my assistant (Marino Carlos) has done a great job with him. It's terrific, what can I say? It's indescribable."

Second place finisher and beaten favorite Commissioner King heads out to the track before the race.

Kicking off World Cup night was the $1 million Zabeel Feed Dubai Kahayla Classic (G1), a 2000 meter (about 1 1/4 mile) trip over the main track for Purebred Arabian horses. Jockey Doug Watson sent 40-1 Al Zeer to the front to set the pace pressed by 33-1 Uptown Walk The Line and 7-2 second choice First Classs. Turning for home the pacesetters tired as 9-5 favorite Muraad took over and opened up a 2 length lead midstretch, but 14-1 Falaah, unhurried early under Al Moatasem Al Balushi, rallied down the center to win by a head in 2:17.32. It was a long 6 1/4 lengths back to 6-1 Mubeed third.

Left: Falaah heads to the winner's enclosure. Winning trainer Ahmed Al Balushi said: "Thanks to God. It is a first Kahayla Classic for Oman, so we are obviously delighted. On Super Saturday when he won, I thought he could perform at this level and he did not disappoint. Gate 15 is never an easy thing for any horse, but he showed his class there."
