Here my continuing look at the list of top contenders for the 2018 Kentucky Derby to be run on May 6th at Churchill Downs. The prep races in full swing and there are lots of points left to be earned earned. Expect lots of changes to this list as horses win or lose preps or get injured.
Entries for the Kentucky Derby will close and post positions will be drawn on May 2.
Below is my latest list of contenders with their trainer, jockey, and dosage index. Dual qualifiers are marked with an asterisk by their dosage index. Each horse names links to a profile with lots of info and a photo. Jockey assignments are based on who has been riding each horse and will change as jockeys make commitmenets now. The early Triple Crown nominations, which cost $600, closed in January with 360 horses, and late nominations, which cost $6000, will close in late March. That was the last chance to be eligible without a high supplement fee, but with rule changes a couple of years ago. late supplements will have the same priority as the nominees if anyone wants to pay the $200,000 fee.

Security even tighter - if you are going to the Derby or Oaks be sure to check here to find out what you can bring in with you. The enhanced security means no big cameras, camcorders, big purses, or coolers. Check here to make sure you don't bring anything they will confiscate. Also there will be no re-entry if you leave the track, so don't forget anything! 2018 is likely to be the same if not more restricted.
