World Thoroughbred Championships Photos

Although the 20th anniversary of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships was held in what is usually celebrity central, the hot and smoky weather seemed to keep most of the celebs indoors. Here are a few movie/TV stars and racing celebrities that I caught at Santa Anita. To the right is trainer Richard Mandella who was certainly the racing celebrity of the day with four winners, a new Breeders' Cup record.

Writer, producer, and director of Seabiscuit Gary Ross	Emmy award winning actor Martin Sheen, currently starring in West Wing on NBC	Actor Jerry O'Connell who currently stars in Crossing Jordan on NBC.
John Corbett who played Ian Miller in My Big Fat Greek Wedding	Action hero Chuck Norris	Jockey Gary Stevens who played George Woolf in Seabiscuit
Star jockey of the day was Alex Solis who won the new Shoemaker Award for his performance.	Actress and horse owner Bo Derek with retired jockey and general manager of Santa Anita, Chris McCarron.	Jockey Julie Krone who became the first female jockey to win a Breeders' Cup race with Halfbridled in the Juvenile Fillies.
Luca Cumani trainer of Falbrav who came out third in the close photo finish in the Turf, was out with his charge every morning.	Is trainer Sir Michael Stoute happy because he just won the Filly and Mare Turf with Islington or because he is standing next to Bo Derek?	Popular European jockey Frankie Dettori was unable to cash in this year with a 5th on Sulamani his best finish.
