Note: Irish War Cry won his first two starts as a 2-year-old at Laurel Park in a maiden special weight and the Marylander Stakes. He made his 2017 debut winning the Holy Bull Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park, upsetting 2-year-old champ Classic Empire by 8 3/4 lengths, but disappointed as the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) favorite finishing 7th. For his final prep, he shipped up to Aqueduct where he won the Wood Memorial (G2) earning him enough points to draw in easily. He attempted to become just the third New Jersey-bred to win the Kentucky Derby, after filly Regret in 1915 and Cavalcade in 1935. In the Kentucky Derby (G1) he was the 5-1 second choice but finished 10th beaten 16 1/2 lengths.
