2025 Kentucky Oaks Entries

The fillies never get the press the boys do, but on Friday they get the spotlight in the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs. On Saturday evening the post positions were drawn for the 151st Longines Kentucky Oaks and a full field of fourteen 3-year-old fillies (no also-eligibles) made the entry box for this $1.5 million Grade 1 event over 1 1/8 miles on the main track.

Good Cheer is the 6-5 morning line favorite, a perfect 6 for 6 including the Golden Rod (G3) at Churchill followed by the Rachel Alexandra (G2) and Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) at Fair Grounds.. Regular rider Luis Saez will be in the irons out of post 11 for trainer Brad Cox. In to challenge her include 6-1 second choice La Cara from post 7. Fifth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) she came back to win the Suncoast at Tampa Bay, was second in the Davona Dale (G2) at Gulfstream then won the Ashland (G1) at Keeneland for her final prep. Dylan Davis rides on Friday for trainer Mark Casse. 8-1 third choice is Quietside who drew the far outside 14 post off wins in the Honeybee (G3) and Fantasy (G2) at Oaklawn. Jose Ortiz gets the call for trainer John Ortiz.

Michael Banahan of owner Godolphin said of post 11 for homebred Good Cheer, "We were pretty relaxed about where she was going to be. She's pretty uncomplicated and professional. She's shown enough speed to put herself wherever she needs to be." Trainer Brad Cox added, "She's been incredibly impressive this year and we're expecting a big effort next week."

Trainer Mark Casse said of post 7 for La Cara, "I think the post is good. We're coming out running and she's in a good spot."

Post time for the Kentucky Oaks is 5:51pm (race 11) and you can watch it and the 5 undercard stakes on USA Network Friday afternoon from 1:00-6:00pm EDT.

• Good Cheer wins the 2025 Kentucky Oaks (G1) - Friday at Churchill Downs, favorite Good Cheer rallied to win the Kentucky Oaks (G1) by a 2 1/4 lengths in the mud over Drexel Hill and Bless the Broken. Get the results, chart, and photos here.
