The last filly to run in the Belmont Stakes was Rags to Riches in 2007 who won!

In the 144 runnings of the Belmont Stakes, there have been only 22 fillies that have competed in the event. Three of these have won the race: Ruthless (1867), Tanya (1905), and Rags to Riches (2007). There has also been one who finished second and six who finished third.

Rags to Riches win in the 2007 Belmont Stakes not only made her only the third filly in history and the first since 1905 to win, she was also a half-sister to 2006 Belmont winner Jazil. She was also sired by 1992 Belmont Stakes winner and Horse of the Year A.P. Indy, who stands at Lane's End Farm. Both Jazil and Rags to Riches are out of the Deputy Minister mare Better Than Honour.
