The Belmont Stakes Racing Festival runs from June 8 to June 10, highlighted by the 155th Belmont Stakes run on Saturday June 10, this year commemorating the 50th anniversary of Secretariat's Triple Crown and his 31-length romp in the Belmont. The weather is currently looking pretty good on Belmont Day, mostly cloudy with temperatures in the high 70's and no rain. Here are Hit Show and Il Miracolo on the track on Wednesday morning, when it was in the high 60's with smoke and haze clearly visible in the sky.
Due to the wildfires in Quebec and the prevailing winds blowing smoke and ash towards New York, air quality has been very poor. Citing health and safety concerns, the New York Racing Association cancelled Thursday morning training and the live racing card at Belmont Park, with the two stakes races originally scheduled for Thursday to be redrawn and run on Sunday.

- Belmont Weather Forecasts - Looks like temperature in the mid-70s but rain is possible on Friday.
Hit Show is one of three horses entered by trainer Brad Cox, the others being Angel of Empire and Tapit Shoes. Cox said, "So far, so good. They shipped in [Tuesday] and [look] really good. All three trained on the main track and all settled in well. [Post 7] is fine. You got 1 1/2 miles to figure out. The post doesn't mean a whole, whole lot here." Hit Show galloped 1 3/8 miles at 9am. On Thursday he walked the shedrow as the track was closed for training. Cox said, "Days off are good, right? For humans and horses. Everything is quiet and hopefully we can get back out tomorrow and do a little something. We'll be fine and they're all good-minded horses."
Il Miracolo who at 30-1 is the longest shot in the field, visited Big Sandy for a routine gallop Wednesday. Owned by Eduardo Soto, the Gun Runner chestnut enters from a frontrunning score in a Gulfstream Park allowance. On Thursday, trainer Antonio Sano said, "This morning he walked the shedrow. It's the same for all. It's the same for everyone. The horse is doing good. It's a very strong race. Hopefully, my horse runs well and comes back well." After drawing post 5, Sano said, "He should be forwardly placed. The horse is doing great. 1 1/2 miles is not an easy distance, but we're giving it a try. I'm happy with (the post). Everything is good." Owner Eduardo Soto added, "It's perhaps a once in a lifetime chance and I love to gamble. To be in the presence of the people I see here is an absolute honor. Let's roll!"
