Breeders' Cup Workouts

Date: 11/01/2018

Thursday, as expected, was very wet with steady rainshowers and wind, temperatures in the low 60's, with the main track sloppy and the turf course yielding if not soft. At this late stage there were no timed works for Breeders' Cup entrants, with most participants going out for 1 or 2 easy circuits to stay sharp for their championship races. The large Aidan O'Brien contingent finally cleared quarantine and were able to do their customary clockwise trot on the outside in single file, followed by a canter through the stretch.

Thankfully the forecasts have changed and there won't be rainfall on Friday or Saturday, but the track will still be "off" at least through Friday due to 2 days of rain. You can check the latest forecasts here.

Here are photos for 35 of the horses on Thursday morning. All Breeders' Cup contenders had to be on the grounds 72 hours prior to their race. Click the small picture to see a larger version.
