2021 Preakness Miscellaneous Photos


These fans seem to be more interested in their phones than in the races!

There was wasn't as much going on at Pimlico on Preakness day due to the covid restrictions, but some of the usual scenery was there. Here is a selection of photos from Preakness day for your enjoyment. Just click the smaller one to see a bigger version.

Brandon "Taz" Niederauer performed the National Anthem this year. He starred in the musical School of Rock on Broadway and is known for his Jimmy Hendrix style version of the Star Spangled Banner.
 
Miss Maryland Taelyr Robinson looks to be having a good time. She also presented the trophy for the Gallorette Stakes. I don't know who he is, but I know where you can buy his suit! Shinesty Kentucky Derby Suits and Jackets
 
The traditional honor guard brings the Preakness trophies over to the winner's circle. Known as the most valuable trophy in sports, the Woodlawn Vase is currently insured for $4 million.
 
The track security people follow the trophies with the flowers for the winner and set up the display in the winner's circle where they are guarded until time for the trophy presentation.
 
With attendance capped at only 10,000 (one fifth of the Kentucky Derby cap), the crowd was pretty sparse.
 
Another Preakness tradition is painting the colors of the winner on the weather vane atop the winner's circle cupola.
 
The Stronach marquee tent next to the infield winner's circle with all the fancy people and the jockeys on the porch outside the jocks room above the regular winner's circle.
