2017 Kentucky Derby Future WagerPool Three of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. The mutuel field of all other 3-year-olds was the top choice again at 5-1 with Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3) winner McCraken next at 6-1. Holy Bull Stakes (G2) winner Irish War Cry was third choice at 7-1. A total of $373,354 was wagered with $250,279 in the win pool and $123,074 in the exacta pool.
In the only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2017, which ran concurrent with Derby pool 3, Unique Bella was a strong favorite at even odds with the field of all other 3-year-old fillies next at 9-1. Third choice at 10-1 was the Ferrell, winner of the Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G3) this weekend. A total of $100,335 was wagered in the Oaks Future with $56,337 in the win pool and $43,998 in the exacta pool.
The Kentucky Derby Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Pool 1 was held November 24-27 and Pool 2 was held January 27-29. The fourth and final pool is set for March 31-April 2. The 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
