Kentucky Derby Traditions

horse racing kentucky derby Celebrities attending the Kentucky Derby is a tradition as old as the Derby, but it has been revamped a bit in recent years. Instead of celebrities hanging out in the paddock as in the past, now there is an offical red carpet with posing areas for the famous and wanna-be famous to enter the track and get their 10 seconds of fame showing off their outfits and hats. Photos from the red carpet are often broadcast on the infield televisions for all to see. Most of the real celebrities will watch the race in private rooms and boxes in Millionaire's Row or the Jockey Club Suites, far from the crush of all the regular attendees.

These celebrity photos are from 2006 before the red carpet set-up was introduced. Since I am by myself at the Derby, I have never had the time to go over there since I am too busy with the races.
