Note: Overtook finished second in his debut at Churchill Downs in September, followed by another second place effort in the Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland. He finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) also at Keeneland, before breaking his maiden in his next start, the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) at Churchill Downs. Overtook made his 3-year-old debut in the Rebel Stakes (G2) finishing a disappointing sixth, and then finished fifth in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) for his final prep. On Saturday April 24, Overtook worked a bullet half mile in 46.20 seconds at Churchill Downs with David Cohen aboard and drew in the field when Get Her Number dropped out. In the Kentucky Derby he finished 7th beaten 8 1/2 lengths at odds of 49-1. He rallied to finish 4th in the Preakness.
