He was 2nd in the Californian, 2nd in the Hollywood Gold Cup, 3rd in the Pacific Classic, then 5th in the Goodwood Breeders' Cup in his final prep. In a surprise move, he was taken from trainer Vladimir Cerin and given to Scott Blasi and entered in the Mile instead of the Classic.
