Stellar Wind winning the Santa Anita Oaks.
The fillies never get the press the boys do, but on Friday they get the spotlight in the Longines Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. On Tuesday the post positions were drawn for the 141st Longines Kentucky Oaks and a full field of 14 3-year-old fillies plus one also-eligible made the entry box for this $1,000,000 Grade 1 event over 1 1/8 miles on the main track.
As expected, Stellar Wind is the 7-2 favorite on the morning line and drew post 12, coming off 3 straight wins including the Santa Ysabel (G3) and Santa Anita Oaks (G1) both at Santa Anita. Regular rider Victor Espinoza gets the call for trainer John Sadler. In to challenge her include two fillies both at 4-1. Demoiselle (G2) and Gazelle (G2) winner Condo Commando drew post 5 for jockey Joel Rosario and trainer Rudy Rodriguez, while I'm a Chatterbox drew post 8 off her wins in the Rachel Alexandra (G3) and Fair Grounds Oaks (G2). Florent Geroux will be aboard for trainer Larry Jones.
