2009 Kentucky Derby and Oaks Future Wager Pool One

Pool One of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. As expected the field wound up the favorite at only 9-5. Old Fashioned, who will make his first start of 2009 tomorrow in the Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn, closed as the pool's second choice at 7-1. Pioneerof the Nile, winner of the Robert Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday, was the third choice at 13-1. The total amount wagered during Pool One was $478,721, up 9% from last year.
The Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race. Pool 2 is scheduled for March 12-15 and the third and final pool is set for April 2-5. The 134th running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 2.
