2015 Belmont Stakes Entries

Date: 06/03/2015

A field of only 8 was entered in the 147th Belmont Stakes on Wednesday morning, including Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner American Pharoah who will try to become the 12th Triple Crown winner, and the first in 37 years, on Saturday. The post position draw was held at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.

American Pharoah will break from post five as the 3-5 morning-line favorite with regular rider Victor Espinoza aboard. His trainer Bob Baffert, said, "I don't really think it's a horrible post position. I've always liked the five. It's one I've had good luck with. The main thig is that the horse is doing well; I think that's the most important thing. He's doing great, but we still have to get around there." He continued with, "I want to win it for the horse because the horse is deserving of it. He's an exciting horse to watch and he's an exciting horse for me to train the way the does things easily. There's a lot of pressure. Right now we just want to stay focused. The horse is happy and healthy. I have a great team around me. We're enjoying New York right now. New York is just amazing every time I come here. It's just a lot of fun. There's a really good vibe behind this horse."

Second choice at odds of 5-1 is Frosted, the fourth place finisher in the Kentucky Derby, who drew post 6. Materiality, winner of the Florida Derby and sixth in the Kentucky Derby, drew post 8 and will the the third choice on the morning line at odds of 6-1.

Here is the list of starters for the 147th running of the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (G1) on Saturday June 6, with post positions and morning line odds.

Live television coverage will be provided from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Network and 4:30-7:30 p.m. on NBC, with post time for the Belmont Stakes scheduled for 6:52 p.m. All times are Eastern time zone.
