2026 Preakness Entries

Golden Tempo winner of the Kentucky Derby will not contest the Preakness.

On Monday afternoon, final entries were taken and post positions were drawn for the 151st running of the $2 million Preakness Stakes (G1), the second jewel of the Triple Crown to be run on Saturday over 1 3/16 miles Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Golden Tempo is skipping the Preakness, along with many other Derby horses, so there will be no Triple Crown winner this year. Long shot Derby third place finisher Ocelli will be there along with sixth place finisher Incredibolt. There is no clear cut favorite with Federico Tesio winner Taj Mahal, Louisiana Derby (G2) winner Chip Honcho, and Virginia Derby winner Incredibolt all at 5-1 on the morning line.

Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore was torn down after the 2025 Preakness so a new grandstand and track surfaces could be built, so this year the Preakness will be run at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland, instead. The race is expected to return home to Pimlico next year.

The Preakness undercard will be broadcast on CNBC and Peacock from 1:00-4:00pm ET with the NBC main network carrying the Preakness and the 3 stakes before it from 4:00-7:30. Free past performances are available from BRISnet.com here (look for Robusta).
