2026 Kentucky Oaks Undercard Stakes Results

Date: 5/02/2026

Kentucky Oaks Day on Friday usually draws the second largest attendance of any raceday in North America, second only to the Kentucky Derby run the very next day, and this year was no exception with 103,290 fans packing the stands and infield. Six graded stakes were contested on the Oaks undercard, under overcast skies and temperature in the high 50's, with the main track fast and Matt Winn turf course firm. TwinSpires, the official betting partner of the Kentucky Oaks, set a new record of $24 million, up 24% from the prior record set last year in wagering on Churchill Downs races for the Kentucky Oaks Day program.

Shred the Gnar wins the La Troienne Stakes (G1)
The first Grade 1 stakes of the Churchill Downs meeting is the $1 million Fasig-Tipton La Troienne Stakes (G1) for older fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles on the main track. Shred the Gnar heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Brian Lynch said, "It's a really good way to celebrate a birthday with a Grade I. She didn't handle things well at Gulfstream Park but once we got her back here to Churchill she returned to the filly we knew she always was. She really touted herself coming into this race that she'd run a big race." Jockey Flavien Prat added, "She broke pretty well today and got herself in a good position. She has been training to be behind horses. She was able to respond very well today in that situation. I'm so proud of the way she ran today."

Left: Second place finisher and beaten favorite Fully Subscribed in the stretch. Jockey Flavien Prat said, "From the post I had, I thought I had a decent trip. From the five-sixteenths pole all the way to the wire, I had a good run out of her. She just could not go by the winner."

Right: Third place finisher Bless the Broken in the stretch. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. said, "I had a nice trip. Because I had the inside post, I had to stay on the inside longer than I wanted to. It worked out good and I'm happy with her effort."

Imaginationthelady (3, center) wins the Edgewood Stakes
the $600,000 Accenture Edgewood Stakes (G2) featured a field of 13 three-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Appalachian Stakes (G2) runner-up Imaginationthelady was sent off as the 5-2 favorite over 4-1 second choice Just Aloof, 4th in the Appalachian, and 5-1 third choice Lion Lake, 3rd in the Appalachian.

Jockey Junior Alvarado sent 20-1 Tam Tam to the lead first time by through fractions of 23.17, 47.78, and 1:11.92 while pressed by Lion Lake and stalked by Just Aloof. Left: Imaginationthelady heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Brendan Walsh said, "I didn't have any instructions for my rider. He rides for me all the time and he knows what we want. This is a tribute to my whole team. They all work hard and this is the sort of thing that everyone enjoys. I'm not sure what's next for her, but I've got a feeling she's just going to get better. It was tight at the end. Tyler rode a great race. She was a little farther back than planned, but it worked out. We always thought she was a nice filly as a 2-year-old, and she's only gotten better with age. I think her best races are still ahead of her."

Right: Imaginationthelady returns after the race. Winning jockey Tyler Gaffalione said, "I wanted to get position out of the gate and she responded to me well. They slowed it down a little bit down the backstretch and I lost a little ground there. She never hesitated when I put her through the spot and she finished off really well."

Corporate Power wins the Alysheba Stakes (G2)
The $750,000 U.S. Army Alysheba Stakes (G2) featured 7 older horses going 1 1/16 miles on the main track. Pennsylvania Derby (G1) winner and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) 6th place finisher Baeza was sent off as the 9-5 favorite over 11-4 second choice Skippylongstocking, winner of the Pegasus World Cup (G1), and 11-2 third choice Corporate Power, 2nd in the New Orleans Classic (G2).

Jockey Luis Saez sent 13-1 longest shot Nu What's New to the lead first time by through fractions of 23.83, 46.56, and 1:10.28 while pressed by 9-1 East Avenue and stalked by 13-2 Grande. Into the lane Nu What's New tired as Corporate Power, 5th early, and Skippylongstocking, 4th early, swept to the lead while exchanging bumps at the 3/16 pole. Corporate Power held off Skippylongstocking to win by a neck in 1:41.82. It was another 1/2 length back to late-running favorite Baeza third. Tyler Gaffalione aboard Skippylongstocking claimed foul against Jose Ortiz aboard Corporate Power for interference but the result stood.

Left: Corporate Power returns after the race. Winning jockey Jose Ortiz said, "It was a good stretch battle. My horse lugs in all the time, but I had a pretty good hold of him. I never felt like we made a major contact. You can see Skippylongstocking with his head tucked in, just shying away from me, and then at the end, I just had him. I never made a major bump with him; it was just good race-riding, I think." Winning trainer Steve Asmussen added, "Skippy pushed him out from the rail to four-wide coming into the stretch. I'm extremely proud of Corporate Power's effort in the race. Going into the first turn, nothing was absolutely ideal. He could have given up there. Coming into the stretch, he had to earn it. He fought back and proved what a quality horse he is."

Right: Second place finisher Skippylongstocking circles during the inquiry. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said, "He herded me from the three-eighths. It was terrible. From the three-eighths pole, he bumped the horse the whole way. It's terrible to allow a guy to bump for three furlongs. That's a lot of bumping."

Kathynmarissa wins the Modesty Stakes (G3)
The $500,000 Veritas Prime Modesty Stakes (G3) featured a field of 8 older fillies and mares going 1 1/8 miles on the Matt Winn Turf Course. Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) winner Gezora was sent off as the 4-5 favorite over 3-1 second choice Kathynmarissa, 5th in the Santa Ana (G3), and 4-1 third choice Whiskey Decision, 2nd in the Hillsborough (G2).

Jockey Jamie Torres sent 16-1 Stylish Sue to the lead first time by through fractions of 23.97, 48.49, and 1:13.47 while pressed by 25-1 Dona Clota and stalked by 35-1 longest shot Ramsey Pond. Turning for home Stylish Sue continued to lead through 1 mile in 1:36.91 before tiring. Kathynmarissa, last early under Jose Ortiz, came out 6 wide for room and rallied to win going away by 1 1/4 lengths over late-running favorite Gezora in 1:48.13. Left: Kathynmarissa heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Chad Brown (who trains the first 2 finishers) said, "Anytime you can finish 1-2 in a race like this it's very rewarding. (Kathrynmarissa) came into this start off the layoff but has been training very well over the winter and since she arrived here at Churchill Downs. This is a great start to her 5-year-old season."

Right: Kathynmarissa returns after the race. Winning jockey Jose Ortiz added, "We wanted to be forward, right up there with the leader. But she broke bad and it couldn't work. You can make plans, but you have to be ready for them to change. In the end, she ran well. It all worked out for the best."

On Time Girl wins the Eight Belles Stakes (G3)
The $700,000 Sysco Eight Belles Stakes (G2) featured a field of 9 three-year-old fillies sprinting 7 furlongs on the main track. Into the lane French Friction tired as On Time Girl, 7th early, swept 3 wide to lead through 3/4 in 1:09.73. Kept to task by Irad Ortiz Jr., On Time Girl drew off to win by 1 1/2 length over late-running 11-1 Luv Your Neighbor in 1:22.16. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to 19-2 Paradise third.

Left: On Time Girl heads to the winner's circle. Winning trainer Brad Cox said, "We asked her to stretch out in distance and she gave us an honest effort. I think one turn is what she's best at right now. She ran a big race today."

Right: On Time Girl heads back to the barn after the race. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. added, "We got a beautiful trip. We were a little wide around the turn, but she really responded when I asked for her best. She is a nice filly."

Moon Spun wins the Unbridled Sidney Stakes

It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to 13-1 Creed's Gold third, while favorite Shisospicy was last beaten 11 lengths.

Winning trainer Brian Lynch said, "I think giving her that little bit of a break, she put on good weight and her coat and everything came around. Her last work on the dirt I was super impressed with, so she gave us a good feeling. Could she beat Shisospicy? I don't know. If she didn't show up, possibly, and she didn't show up and we beat her."
