2008 Kentucky Derby Future WagerPool Two of the 2010 Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. As expected the field wound up the favorite at only 3-1. Fountain of Youth Stakes winner Eskendereya is the lowest odds individual horse at 5-1, followed by Lookin at Lucky, last year's champion 2-year-old male, at 9-1. Buddy's Saint, who suffered a poor trip in the Fountain of Youth, is the 16-1 fourth choice on the board. The total amount wagered during Pool One was $355,853, down 6.4% from last year, however the pool was only open Friday to Sunday unlike past years when it opened on Thursday. $269,306 was bet to win while just $86,547 went into the exacta pool. 61901
In the only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2010, which ran concurrent with Derby pool 2 but closed 30 minutes later, Blind Luck, winer of 3 Grade 1 races, was the 4-1 favorite over Davona Dale winner Amen Hallelujah at 6-1. Christine Daae and the mutuel field of all other 3-year-old fillies both closed at 7-1. A total of $61,901 was wagered in the Oaks Future, which included win only with no exacta this year.
The Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Pool 1 was held on February 12-14 and the third and final pool is set for March 26-28. The 136th running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 1.
