2011 Kentucky Derby Future WagerPool Two of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager opens for betting at noon ET on Friday March 11 and closes at 6 PM ET on Sunday March 13. Once again the mutuel field consisting of all other 3-year-olds was installed as the morning line favorite at 3-1 by Churchill Downs oddsmaker Mike Battaglia. 2010 2-year-old Champion Uncle Mo, who will make his 2011 debut this weekend, and Fountain of Youth winner Soldat are the lowest odds individual horses at 7-2 and 8-1. Only four horses were dropped from Pool 1 and replaced here with new ones.
This weekend also includes the single Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2011, which runs concurrent with the Derby Future but closes 30 minutes later, and includes win wagering only. The favorite is the mutuel field at 5-2 with Davona Dale Stakes winner R Heat Ligtning and Santa Anita Oaks runner-up Zazu next at 8-1.
The Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Pool 1 was held on February 18-20 and the third and final pool is set for April 1-3. The 137th running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
