2005 Belmont Contenders

There won't be a Triple Crown winner this year, but there should be a rematch between Kentucky Derby winner and Preakness third place Giacomo and Preakness winner and Derby third place Afleet Alex. A few of their old rivals will be back to take them on in the Belmont, as well as some new shooters just entering the Triple Crown battle. Here is the latest list of horses planning to start in the Preakness. Expect changes as more decisions about going are made by trainers, plus the Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont on Saturday is expected to send a couple of starters as well. 
Be sure to click the link on each horse's name to view full info, stats, and a photo where available. A star by the dosage indicates a dual qualifier. More info about the new contenders should be coming this week.
