Not nominated to the Triple Crown in the early session, but the new owners did nominate him in the last session for $6000 despite his dull performance in the Louisiana Derby where he finished 8th, beating only one horse. Came back to finish 3rd in the WinStar Derby at Sunland Park where he finished well to lose by 1 1/2 lengths. Finished 2nd by 3 1/2 lengths in the Lexington then 17th in the Kentucky Derby.
