Monday morning's gallops at Keeneland were marred by unexpected rain early with temperatures around 48 degrees and a chilly wind. Sunrise wasn't until almost 8am which is also when the tractors come out for the morning renovation break. I got a few horses before the break, but with the clouds and pre-dawn darkness the pictures are pretty dark. Not that many horses were out but more should be arriving this afternoon and tomorrow. The post position draw is this afternoon, so check back for all the entries this evening.

Beholder worked 5f in 59.40 seconds in her last major move before facing males in the Classic. Exercise rider Janeen Painter said, "So far she has just embraced being here. She's enjoyed it, she enjoys the wide open spaces and even as far as the stress of the press being around constantly she is really handling it very well. I'm proud of her growing up that way."

Effinex galloped on the main track Monday morning, then drew post 6 in the Classic. Mike Smith will be in the irons for trainer Jimmy Jerkens. The Suburban (G2) winner was third in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) last out.

Wicked Strong went out on Monday for a gallop, then drew the 8 post in the Dirt Mile. Winless since last year's Jim Dandy, the Jimmy Jerkens trainee was second in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) and will have new rider John Velazquez aboard on Friday out of post 8 as a 5-1 second choice.

I'm a Chatterbox was out Monday morning for a gallop after her 5f work in 1:00.40 on Saturday. She goes next in Friday's Distaff. Trainer Larry Jones said of the Saturday move, "We called a little audible and went early because they were going to seal the track (at the break). The track was OK (at 7:15) so we said, ‘Let’s go.’ Things couldn’t have gone better for her since she has been here and the only question now is do we have enough horse."

Judy the Beauty worked 5 furlongs in 59.80 seconds Monday morning, then drew post 11 as the defending champion in the Filly and Mare Sprint. New jockey Frankie Dettori gets the call for trainer Wesley Ward.

Harmonize worked half mile in 48.80 in preparation for her start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The 7-2 morning line favorite won the P.G. Johnson and the Jessamine (G3). Regular rider Junior Alvarado gets the call for trainer Bill Mott.

Camelot Kitten comes to the Juvenile Turf off a second place finish in the Bourbon (G3) run over the Keeneland turf. Drawing the 12 post as a 12-1 morning line shot, regular jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. gets the assignment from trainer Chad Brown.

Conquest Daddyo earned his way to the Juvenile Turf by winning the Summer (G2) at Woodbine, a Challenge race. The 12-1 morning line shot will again have Joe Bravo aboard for trainer Mark Casse, out of post 10.

Dressed in Hermes drew the rail in the Juvenile Turf. He won the Zuma Beach at Santa Anita. The 20-1 shot gets jockey Gary Stevems for trainer Janet Armstrong and owner-breeder Budget Stables.

Isotherm switches back to dirt in the Juvenile after winning two races on turf including the Pilgrim (G3) at Belmont. The George Weaver trainee will have regular rider Jose Lezcano aboard, drawing post 11.

Manhattan Dan worked 4f on the "good" turf in 50.20 in preparation for his start in the Juvenile Turf. He drew post 3 and will have Robby Albarado aboard for trainer Gary Contessa. He comes to Keeneland off third place finishes in the Summer (G2) and Futurity (G2).

Ralis was out Monday for some maintenance work after his timed move on Saturday, five furlongs in 1:00.80. Jack Sisterson, assistant to trainer Doug O'Neill said of his Juvenile entrant after that work, "I’m happy, Kieren’s (exercise rider Fallon) happy and Doug is even happier. His other horses are working this morning at Santa Anita and will be here Sunday."

Lea worked 4f in 47.40 on Monday morning in preparation for Friday's Dirt Mile. He drew post 5 for trainer Bill Mott and jockey Jose Lezcano. Winless since January, he was 2nd in the Woodbine Mile (G1) last out.
