2022 Kentucky Derby Future WagerPool Four of the 2022 Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. The mutuel field was again the favorite at 4-1, with Smile Happy, second in the Risen Star (G2), the second choice at 6-1 and Forbidden Kingdom, winner of the San Felipe Stakes, next at 7-1. The total amount wagered during Pool Four was Pool Four of the 2022 Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. The mutuel field was again the favorite at 4-1, with Smile Happy, second in the Risen Star (G2), the second choice at 6-1 and Forbidden Kingdom, winner of the San Felipe Stakes, next at 7-1. The total amount wagered during Pool Four was $322,476, up 16% from last year. $284,503 was bet into the win pool and $90,200 was bet into the exacta pool. You can view the exacta will-pays here. Note that any horses currently trained by Bob Baffert are excluded and cannot earn points toward entering the Derby. If they change trainers, then they can start earning points and be included in later pools.
In the only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2022, which ran concurrent with Derby pool 4, undefeated Echo Zulu was the favorite at 5-2, Secret Oath next 7-2, and the field of all other fillies the third choice at 6-1. A total of $90,737 was wagered in the Oaks Future with $64,480 in the win pool and $26,257 in the exacta pool, up 15% from last year.
The Kentucky Derby Future Wager is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn't start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Pool 1 was November 27-29, Pool 2 was January 21-23, and Pool 3 was February 11-13. The fifth and final pool is set for April 7-9. The 148th running of the Kentucky Derby is currently scheduled for Saturday, May 7. Full rules and info for the wager is available here.
