War Emblem had his first serious work since the Preakness today at Churchill Downs. He went the five furlongs in 1:00 3/5, the co-fourth fastest at the distance today, with fractions of :12 4/5, :25, and :49. He galloped out six furlongs under exercise rider Dana Barnes in 1:13 3/5 and seven furlongs in 1:26 3/5. His final workout is scheduled for next Tuesday at Churchill, then he will fly to New York for the Belmont on Wednesday.
Trainer Bob Baffert said: "He galloped out really strong today. He didn't want to pull up, he didn't get tired, he never broke a sweat, and he never took a deep breath. He's just a really fit horse now that he just does it so effortlessly. The track was in excellent shape today; the rain softened it up."
