Opening weekend for Santa Anita's fall meet concluded with the premier race for older fillies and mares, the $200,000 Zenyatta Stakes (G2) presented by FanDuel, a 1 1/16 mile main track trip and a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series race in the Distaff division. Conditions were typical for late September with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 90's. Om N Joy was sent off as the 9-4 favorite in the field of 7 off her fourth place finish in the Pacific Classic (G1) after finishing a close second in the Clement L. Hirsch (G1). In to challenge her included 5-2 second choice Rabeeba, undefeated in 3 starts including the Torrey Pines (G3), and 7-2 third choice Magnificat, winner of the Tranquility Lake Stakes after finishing second in the Great Lady M (G2).

Left: Super Corredora in the winner's circle. Winning trainer John Sadler said, "I think we had her pretty fit. I toyed with the idea of running her in the Torrey Pines or something at the very end at Del Mar, but I just said, 'No I'll just take my time and get her ready.' You know the hesitations. It's first time against older and there were some nice horses in there, so I was really thrilled with her effort. She trained very well. I'd like to thank West Point for being really patient with her, and Becky Maker (owner of Shantera Farm), that's where she vacations in Kentucky. She came back in great shape. "She is going to have a good year next year also. She is a nice filly and what more can you say."
Right: Super Corredora walks over before the race. Winning jockey Joel Rosario said, "John told me not to play around too much and go to the lead. She did unbelievable. I want to thank John for the opportunity and West Point and everyone on the team. "I ride a lot of horses for John. Sometimes the decision is a little tough, but I always appreciate John for all the opportunities. She's pretty nice. She broke well out of there. John said just go on and let her do her thing. She put in a good race. She kind of threw her head in a little bit sideways (in the gate). You have to be careful with that because she can throw her head and miss the break, but she did great."
Left: Second place finisher Majestic Oops in the paddock before the race. Trainer Phil D'Amato said, "I think she ran her race. The winner had an easy lead. On paper, there were four speed horses. We didn't have the pace pressure we expected."
Right: Third place finisher Rabeeba in the walking ring before the race. The Bob Baffert trainee improved her record to 3 wins and 1 third in 4 starts, earning $192,600 for owner Michael Lund Petersen.
Sixth place finisher and beaten favorite Om N Joy in the post parade. The Aggie Ordonez trainee has a record of 6 wins, 1 second and 5 thirds in 20 starts, earning $757,203 for owners Baker Stables, Scanlan Racing, and Michael Golovko.

Jockey Emisael Jaramillo sent Listenupshance to the lead out of the chute through fractions of 21.98 and 43.86 with March of Time and Maximum Bourbon 1 1/2 length behind. Turning for home Listenupshance continued to lead through 5f in 55.87 and held off favorite Maximum Bourbon to win by 3/4 lengths in 1:08.70. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to March of Time third.
Left: Listenupshance in the winner's circle. Winning trainer Doug O'Neill said, "I thought it was super impressive. According to Emisael, he just kind of just froze leaving there and then he got him back involved. I know they went 21 and change and he had to go 21 flat. It was very impressive. When (Maximum Bourbon) came to him somewhere down the lane, I was like, 'Uh oh.' He just found another gear and kept plugging away. Definitely I think his most impressive race to date." Owner Adam Kluger added, "It's incredible. Power is in the people not in the pockets. We are going to show everybody that this sport is beautiful and people need to feel like a participant, not just a spectator. That's what makes everything work."
Right: Listenupshance returns after the race. Winning jockey Emisael Jaramillo said, "If you go back and watch his last few races, he's been behaving badly in the gate and giving the other horses one or two lengths at the start. But he has the ability in about two jumps to get where he wants to be. I had to use him a little bit to get to the front. He wasn't 100 percent for this race. This was preparation for the Breeders' Cup. After (the Bing Crosby), we wanted to keep him fresh and happy. Now he'll be 100 percent for the Breeders' Cup and will be tough."

Right: Third/last place finisher March of Time in the paddock before the race. The Bob Baffert trainee improved his record to 2 wins, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds in 7 starts, earning $128,920 for owners Bregman Family Racing, Buehler Family, and Natalie J. Baffert.
