The World Thoroughbred Championships Poll is a weekly listing of the top 10 contenders in all eight Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships races as voted upon by a panel comprised of prominent international journalists and handicappers. Voting began on July 11 and will continue weekly through October 10. The panel will rank active and in-training horses, regardless of geographic location. The following are the results of Week #12 voting in the World Thoroughbred Championships Poll covering racing performances through September 25.
The panel of voters in the World Thoroughbred Championships Poll are: John Avello, Director of Race and Sports Book Operations, Bally's Las Vegas; Simon Clare, Coral Racing (U.K); David Gutfreund, Racing Commentator and handicapper; Brad Free, Writer and Columnist, Daily Racing Form; David Hood, William Hill Sports Book (U.K); Tom Law; News Editor, Thoroughbred Times; Dan Liebman, Executive Editor, The Blood-Horse; Jim Mazur, author and handicapper; Ellis Starr, National Handicapper, Equibase; Tom Quigley, Publisher, Horseplayer magazine and Mike Watchmaker, National Handicapper, Daily Racing Form.
Voting by the panel in the World Thoroughbred Championships Poll is calculated on a on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. Total points earned are listed for each horse. Below are the top ten lists for each division. You may also want to check out the NTRA Racing Poll as well.
