Trainer:Saeed bin Suroor Jockey:Alan Garcia Foaling Date: 5-26-2006 Pedigree: Distorted Humor - Kellis Ransom by Red Ransom Dosage Profile: 6-3-14-0-1 Dosage Index/CD: 2.00 0.54 2008 Record: 2 Starts: 1 - 0 - 0, $37,200 Best Beyer Figure: 93 Note: Last year, he broke his maiden at Saratoga then faded to a well beaten 8th in the Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita. Sent to Dubai, he ran second to Desert Party twice this year in an allowance and the UAE 2000 Guineas. Got his revenge on that rival in the UAE Derby where he set the pace, had a good lead in the stretch, and held off the late close of Desert Party by a half length. In the Kentucky Derby, he chased pacesetter Join in the Dance in 2nd through 3/4, then faded to finish 8th.
Dubai has not been a good place to prep for the Derby so far, so be wary. They don't do Beyer figures for races there, so the one above is for his maiden win at Saratoga last year. Does have a Racing Post rating of 112 which translates roughly to about a 100 Beyer.
Note that he will not hit his actual 3rd birthday until after the Preakness.
