Pool Two of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. As in Pool One, the field wound up the favorite at 3-1. Off his strong showing in the Santa Catalina, Brother Derek was the lowest priced individual horse at 10-1 with Bluegrass Cat next at 11-1. Barbican was withdrawn after an injury sidelined him until after the Derby. The total pool was $464,236, second highest ever for the second pool. The Kentucky Oaks had only $54,054 wagered on it and the field was also favored there at 9-2 with Balance and Wild Fit tied for second choice at 7-1.
Both are two-dollar minimum wagers to win only, and the pools close on Sunday, March 5th at 6:00PM ET. The third and final pool is set for April 6-9. The 132nd running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 with the Kentucky Oaks the day before on May 5. Full rules and info for the wagers are available here. Once wagering is open, you may view real time odds here.
