Pool Two of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. As in Pool One, the field wound up the favorite at 3-1. Off his strong showing in the Santa Catalina, Brother Derek was the lowest priced individual horse at 10-1 with Bluegrass Cat next at 11-1. Barbican was withdrawn after an injury sidelined him until after the Derby. The total pool was $464,236, second highest ever for the second pool. The Kentucky Oaks had only $54,054 wagered on it and the field was also favored there at 9-2 with Balance and Wild Fit tied for second choice at 7-1.
Both are two-dollar minimum wagers to win only, and the pools close on Sunday, March 5th at 6:00PM ET. The third and final pool is set for April 6-9. The 132nd running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 with the Kentucky Oaks the day before on May 5. Full rules and info for the wagers are available here. Brooklyn Handicap (G2) and Hill Prince Stakes - Eldaafer got up by a nose to win the Brooklyn Handicap over pacesetter Nite Light in the slop, with favorite Rising Moon third.
