2005 Kentucky Derby and Oaks Future WagerPool One of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed and "All Other 3-year-olds" was made the heavy favorite at 2-1 with Declan's Moon a distance second at 9-1. A new record for wagering was set as $620,362 was bet over the four days, easily eclipsing the previous record of $577,889 and marking the first time a single pool topped $600,000.
As in the past, the Oaks Future Wager was not nearly as popular with only $69,928 wagered. Sweet Catomine was favored by a few dollars over "All Other 3-year-old Fillies" with both closing at odds of 9-2. Wagering on Balletto was suspended Thursday after she was injured and taken out of consideration for the Oaks.
The bet is a two dollar minimum wager to win only. Past performances for Pool 1 are available online free from BRIS for both the Derby and Oaks pools. Free past performances are also available for both races from Daily Racing Form. Pool Two of both wagers is set for March 10-13 and the third and final pool will run from April 7-10.
