A postcard of Hialeah from the 1930's |
Here are the winners of the Flamingo Stakes from its first running in 1926 where it was originally called the Florida Derby to the final running in 2001. It was known as the Florida Derby from 1926 to 1937 and was a Grade 1 race until 1989 when the track closed for 3 years. It came back in 1993, but was discontinued again when Hialeah closed after the 2001 racing season. Horses who went on to win the Kentucky Derby are noted with a star.
