No third Arc for Enable as she fails to fire at Longchamp despite strong betting support

Date: 10/18/2020

The Arc recently took place at the start of the month and is another of the major horse races to take place each year, alongside the likes of the Classic at the Breeders' Cup and of course the Melbourne Cup. The Melbourne Cup betting offers 2020 are also now starting to hit the market, ahead of the event coming up in just a few weeks' time.

Moving back to the recent Arc, with Enable heading in as the overwhelming favourite to win her third. She continued to be supported in the run up to the race, which eventually saw her go off as the odds-on favourite. Unfortunately, it was not to be for Enable, as she failed to fire on the day and finished back in sixth. This saw her beaten just over six lengths, with Sottsass winning the race by a neck from the fast finishing In Swoop.

Enable was in touch in midfield and looked in a prime position to strike. She pushed forward to track the leaders from just over two furlongs out, before being short of room when looking to make further ground. This saw her lose her place and momentum and she could then only keep to one pace, ultimately finding no extra over the last 100 yards. This was a disappointing result for the horse, who has clearly not run to form. This has now proved to be the last start for the horse, who has now been retired.

Enable still has an incredible career record and she will go down as one of the greats. She has made 19 starts under rules, whilst winning 15 of these. On top of this, she has two second placed finishes and a third placed finish, with the recent sixth placed finish being the only time she has finished out of the places in her career. This further backs up just how successful she has been throughout her career, with her career highest RPR coming when winning the 2017 edition of the Arc. That saw her run to a mark of 129, which further stamps her as a class act and one of the best in recent times.

The result in this year's Arc was a little surprising for Enable, as she had entered with three impressive performances this season. She had opened her season by finishing second to Ghaiyyath, with the latter producing some stunning performances this season. Enable then followed this up by winning the King George very impressively by just over five lengths, before another impressive victory, which is why she was made the overwhelming favourite at Longchamp. Despite this it has been a successful season, with further victories for the horse. Happy retirement for a legend of a horse.
