Two important Breeders' Cup preps will be held at Woodbine
on Sunday, the International at 1 1/2 miles on the turf and
the E.P. Taylor Stakes for the turf fillies. Get entries,
odds, and past performances here. Check back Sunday evening

Astra retired, Squirtle Squirt may follow
EXODUS3977 writes, "They are working out a deal to sell Squirtle
Squirt to Japan, and if finalized, he would be retired. Astra came
out of her last race with a respiratory infection and is being
retired since she won't make the Yellow Ribbon or BC Filly and Mare
Turf."

Champion turf mare Flawlessly dead at 14
TEXSQUARED writes, "She died of natural causes at Elmwood Farm on
Thursday morning, having been diagosed with kidney problems recently.
The daughter of Triple Crown winner Affirmed was the last horse to
win back to back turf Eclipse Awards, in 1992 and 1993, capturing
three consecutive Grade 1 runnings of both the Ramona and Matriarch,
and she won 16 races out of 28 career starts."
