Pacific Classic post-race analysis
LARRY101 writes, "I couldn't believe the gates opened so quickly.
It was obvious that WE wasn't set at the start. Of course, it's
hard to blame the gate crew because WE was acting up and they
wanted to start before he acted up again...so they opened the
gates a second too quickly. But I don't think that cost him the
race. The other trainers have WE's number. Paco cooked him on the
lead with BR. The fractions were too fast, simple as that. Hats
off to Paco for his handling of Came Home...and to Mike Smith for
executing the plan."

European racing, a first-hand account
ESCORIAL1 writes, "Racing here is suffering because of the
dominance of Coolmore and Godolphin. Trainers like Henry Cecil,
Sir Michael Stoute, and Paul Cole have been overshadowed by the
purchasing power of the "big two". Last season all age groups were
monopolized by these stables and, if it looked like they were going
to come up short in the two year old department, Godolphin went out
and purchased any decent looking horse that happened to take their
fancy. When their two year olds, both bred and bought, failed to do
the job, they simply went out and bought the best two in Mark
Johnston's yard, Bandari and Fight Your Corner, who, in truth, are
no better than lower Grade 2."
