Seattle Slew 1974 - 2002
Seattle Slew, the last living Triple Crown winner and oldest living
Kentucky Derby winner, died Tuesday morning at Hill 'n' Dale Farm near
Lexington at age 28.

Seattle Slew passes away
RETROSPECTIVE writes, "There has always been a Triple Crown winner still
alive when the next one came along. Count Fleet passed away Dec.3'73 thus
living 6 months past Secretariat's victory in the Belmont. That chain has
now been broken, unless War Emblem can do the seemingly impossible. Either
way Slew has passed on before one has come to take his place. I guess we
all knew the inevitable would happen, especially at his advanced
age...still, it lessens the shock and sadness little."

Early Preakness Predictions
DEPALMA13 writes, "Booklet couldn't get 1 1/16 because he was running a
sub 46 half mile. War Emblem cannot touch that kind of speed. Both horses
need the lead. Neither can rate. Booklet will get the lead, and that will
be the end of all the War Emblem talk. War Emblem will not rate, just as
Booklet won't, and Booklet is a faster horse over a mile. The pace was a
fraud on Saturday. Booklet won't let that happen at Pimlico. Neither of
these horses will finish better than third in the Preakness."
