Corey Nakatani and Lady of Fifty after winning the 2013 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes
The feature race on Saturday at Del Mar was the $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles over the Polytrack, and is a Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" qualifier for the Ladies' Classic (G1). 25,192 fans came out to the seaside oval under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70's. Last year's winner Include Me Out was sent off as the even-money favorite in the field of 9, off a win in the Desert Stormer Handicap at Hollywood after finishing third in last year's Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic (G1). In to challenge her included 4-1 second choice Byrama, third in the A Gleam Handicap (G2) after winning the Vanity Handicap (G1) and 9-2 third choice More Chocolate, second in the Vanity.

Left: Lady of Fifty in the winner's circle. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said, "I felt a little bit funny about Lady of Fifty being back so far (early on). When she came into the lane and was getting equal with them, I thought she'd have a chance of running them down and she did. It's one of the best races she's run. It's a 'Win and You're In' (for the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic), so I guess we're in."
Right: Lady of Fifty in the paddock before the race. Jockey Corey Nakatani said, "This is a tribute to Jerry and his staff. They've done a wonderful job with her. She's been training really good and I had a lot of confidence riding her today. On the turn, I saw them bunching up inside and she was rolling so good I didn't want to stop her. So we went out and that allowed her to keep her momentum. She's a real nice filly. There's no doubt about that."
Left: Second place finisher More Chocolate in the paddock before the race. Jockey Rafael Bejarano said, "It was a good race for her, a good try. But I was just a little out of horse at the end."
Right: Third place finisher Byrama in the post parade. Jockey Gary Stevens said, "I had a rough trip. At the 1/4 pole I had to take a hold of her and wait. She re-rallied for me, but she's not the kind of filly that wants to get stopped or wait. It was just unfortunate. She's a good one."
Eighth place finisher and beaten favorite Include Me Out returns after the race. Jockey Joe Talamo said, "I wish I knew (what happened to her). We were in a perfect spot and at the 3/8 (pole) she gave me a little run. But then it just wasn't there. Down the lane there was nothing."
