SINGLETARY was rated in good position between horses for five furlongs, waited patiently for room while gaining on the turn, split horses while angling out at the top of the stretch, took charge at the three-sixteenths pole, opened a clear advantage in midstretch then held off ANTONIUS PIUS under steady right hand urging. ANTONIUS PIUS steadied in tight on the first turn, raced well back for seven furlongs, steadied sharply while in traffic on the turn, moved between horses to get clear in upper stretch, lugged in while gaining in midstretch, closed strongly from outside nearing the sixteenth pole then checked behind the winner while lugging in again in the late stages. SIX PERFECTIONS (FR) was unhurried for a half, launched a bid between horses on the far turn, steadied in traffic midway on the turn, swung wide entering the stretch then rallied belatedly to gain a share. SOARING FREE sprinted clear in the early stages, raced uncontested on the lead for a half, continued on the front while saving ground to the turn, relinquished the lead to the winner in upper stretch then weakened from his early efforts. SILVER TREE was reserved for a half while saving ground, rallied along the rail midway on the turn, was blocked along the inside nearing the quarter pole, lodged a mild bid to reach contention in upper stretch then flattened out. MUSICAL CHIMES raced well back for a half, steadied while trapped between horses on the turn and in upper stretch then lacked a strong closing bid. BLACKDOUN (FR) was outrun for five furlongs, steadied sharply in traffic on the turn, swung seven wide entering the stretch then failed to threaten thereafter. DIAMOND GREEN (FR) raced far back for a half after breaking slowly, steadied along the rail behind a wall of horses on the turn then failed to threaten while improving his position. MR O'BRIEN (IRE) raced in the middle of the pack while four wide along the backstretch, lodged a mild rally five wide on the turn then faded in the stretch. WHIPPER raced in close contention along the inside for a half, made a run to challenge on the turn, remained a factor into upper stretch then tired in the final eighth. NOTHING TO LOSE failed to mount a serious rally while wide throughout. ARTIE SCHILLER steadied along the inside on the first turn, tucked in along the rail on the backstretch, saved ground to the turn, awaited room nearing the quarter pole, rallied briefly along the rail in upper stretch then flattened out. SPECIAL RING bobbled at the start, raced up close between horses for five furlongs, made a mild bid on the turn, steadied sharply in upper stretch and steadily tired thereafter. BETTER TALK NOW was unhurried for a mile, angled out on the far turn, rapidly closed the gap on the turn, circled five wide rallying into the stretch, charged to the front while drifting in slightly in midstretch then drew away under steady left hand urging. KITTEN'S JOY was well placed slightly off the rail along the backstretch, launched a rally in the two path on the turn, made a run along the inside to threaten in upper stretch but was no match for the winner while outfinishing POWERSCOURT for the place. POWERSCOURT (GB) was unhurried early after breaking poorly, made a strong middle move while four wide along the backstretch, opened a clear advantage on the far turn, maintained a slim lead into upper stretch, brushed with the winner while drifting out in midstretch then weakened under pressure in the final eighth. MAGISTRETTI was taken in hand for six furlongs, eased back slightly on the far turn, rallied three wide to reach contention on the turn, moved up between horses in upper stretch, steadied in traffic nearing the furlong marker then weakened late. MUSTANFAR was outrun for a mile and failed to threaten while improving his position. REQUEST FOR PAROLE raced up close while saving ground for a mile and steadily tired thereafter. STRUT THE STAGE chased the pacesetter along the rail to the far turn and faltered. STAR OVER THE BAY was used up setting the early pace. Following a stewards inquiry into the stretch run there was no change in the order of finish.

Footnotes

STAUCH was reserved off the pace, raced three wide on the second turn, rallied five wide into the stretch and closed strongly under good handling. CHUCKIE'S IN LOVE was reserved on the inside, came off the rail on the second turn, was blocked in upper stretch, shifted out near the furlong marker and finished well but belatedly. CRITICAL BATTLE set the pace while a bit rank, dueled on the second turn then in upper stretch, battled gamely into the final sixteenth and weakened while just missing the place. HOME MADE SOUP jostled with a rival after the start, shifted in approaching the first turn, settled on the inside, advanced late on the backstretch, engaged the leader on the far turn, dueled gamely into the final sixteenth and also weakened while just missing the place and show. ROCK HARBOR jostled with a rival after the start, rated between rivals, was blocked from the three-eighths pole to the three-sixteenths pole, found room near the furlong marker, steadied a bit outside the sixteenth-pole and lacked the needed kick in a very rough trip. CALVERSTOWN was off slow, saved ground while well behind the field and improved position without reaching contention. TORATORA raced towards the front of the field, went four wide on the second turn and came up empty. DISTORTED CAT raced towards the rear of the field, went four to five wide on the second turn and showed little. BAY EAGLE raced three wide on the first turn, contested the pace on the outside, vied three wide on the final turn and faded. YOURS FOREVER settled while saving ground, came up empty on the second turn and stopped. PANCHO'S ALIBI raced three wide on the first turn and was through early.(Rail at 0 Feet)
